The 2015 Truvelle Lookbook (WOW!)

annaq walsh

Truvelle is one of the newest designers to join a&bé, and Minneapolis is truly obsessed with this collection. Perhaps it's because the designer, Gaby, is one of the cutest and most stylish people ever (seriously, I want her to be my new bff). She's just got that effortless cool thing down. Or, perhaps it's because Truvelle has a philosophy of delivering an amazing product under $2,000. That's right: pretty and practical. Or, perhaps it's because of just how incredibly gorgeous this collection really is. Check out their lookbook and start sharing our obsession.

4 Must-Try Nicole Miller Bridal Gowns for Your 2015 Wedding!

annaq walsh

It's the New Year and we're loving all of the new wedding gowns that are arriving at a&bé bridal shop every day. The Denver location is hosting a trunk show to showcase the newest 2015 styles! We're so excited for this collection, it's one of Nicole Miller's strongest yet.

It's hard to pick only four, but here are our top four styles for Colorado brides.

1. Nicole Miller Hampton Dress: This back ... Sure, it's figure-flattering and ridiculously pretty in that simple and sophisticated way from the front, but this back. The back is amazing.

2. Nicole Miller Perry Dress: Pictures don't do this one justice. Soft, romantic lace that hugs your curves. All for $1,500.

3. Nicole Miller Janey Dress: A plunging v-neck front, a deep back all wrapped up in lace. Perfect for the rustic, chic wedding.

4. Nicole Miller Celine Dress: Straps are all the rage and this gown one-ups the standard strap.

Intrigued? If you're in Denver, we hope you can join us for our Fall 2015 Trunk Show in January.  Click here to set up your appointment.

Dude! 'Lovesick: The Wedding Event for the Cool at Heart' is right around the corner!

breanna doll

We are so excited to once again participate in Lovesick Denver! This is their 5th year of defying the wedding mainstream and can't wait to share what we have in store.

Here are 8 reasons you (or your engaged friends) should join us for the coolest and largest alternative wedding show around!

1) TALENT.

Our job is play matchmaker to indie-minded couples and the rad professionals who will help them bring their visions to life. We scour the country to find the best wedding talent, making sure to curate a group of several dozen vendors in each city who represent varying styles, budgets, and creative approaches. There is something unique and awesome at every show that you won't find in any other room.

2) BOOZE.

Cash bar + day drinking + good people = fun times.

3) CHEAP TICKETS.

Tickets are only $10.00 online and $15.00 at the door. (And pssst... if you buy your tickets today, use promotional code OFFBEAT2015 at checkout to receive 50% off!  But hurry, as availability is limited.)

4) ENTERTAINMENT.

Whether it's the DJs, the bluegrass bands, the dixieland bands, the swing bands, the photo booths, the circus performers, the giant glowing jellyfish (you'll have to find out for yourself what that means), we are super proud to put on a show that is actually fun. It's a love-fueled party in a low-pressure environment.

5) IT'S INCLUSIVE.

Our favorite quote from a 2014 expo attendee was that Lovesick is "beautifully diverse." We try very hard to create an environment that is super-welcoming to everyone!

6) WIN SHIT.

Most of our shows will feature giveaways often with a value of more than $10,000 in wedding-related goods and services. Plus, the money from our raffles will benefit the Human Rights Campaign's marriage equality efforts.

7) BURLESQUE.

Lovesick is proud to feature some of the best names in burlesque from around the country.

8) BECAUSE IT LOOKS LIKE THIS.

Go on, this link won't bite.

a&bé MPLS - Our favorite trends for 2015

breanna doll

Nothing beats New York City in the fall! Our newest Minneapolis location continues to grow and evolve, so I was so thrilled to be able to preview Spring’s most covetable collections and gain some major inspiration to bring back to the Midwest! Our brides are so open to new trends and unique gowns so here are a few of my favorite trends I saw from our always fashion forward designers!

Sequins! Our designers are on point with this glitzy trend! We saw an incredible level of detail when it comes to sequins this season, from rosegold glam from our newest designer, Truvelle, to chevron patterns from the queen of sparkle, Hayley Paige. This trend was a statement in almost every collection we saw including: Sarah Seven, Rebecca Schoneveld, and Anna Campbell. Sequins are a comfortable, soft way to add major impact to your bridal look. Embrace how these little wonders brighten up your look and draw attention to the best places.

Straps! One of the biggest requests we hear is to add straps to a gown. Good thing we discovered the most brilliant new accessory at market! AB Ellie introduced us to her world of embellished straps, perfect for making any dress your own! The level of detail on these beauties will blow you away. The best part is, they are easily removable if you choose to change your look between ceremony and reception.

Minnesota: the bridal gods have answered your prayers :)

Fringe! I hope this is a trend that never goes away. The showstopper at the Hayley Paige runway show was a fringed top jumpsuit that had me giddy in my seat. Seriously, I could barely contain my excitement. It inspired me to help each and every bride find their truly unique detail about their wedding dress that they love so much it has them bouncing in their seat. We cannot wait to receive the Rue De Seine Cleo dress at a&bé Minneapolis, which is the perfect combo of boho goddess meets your grandmother’s to-die-for lace.

a&bé denver - Our favorite trends for 2015

breanna doll

The amount of talent and creativity that we saw during New York Bridal Fashion Week was completely overwhelming and inspiring. One of my favorite parts of my job is helping a bride realize her own individual style and express her personality through her completed wedding-day look.  I was so excited to see some of the hottest wedding trends embracing the bride's creativity and desire to create one-of-a-kind looks that are unique to her love story.

#1: Separates

Your wedding dress should be as unique and special as the bride, so I am in love with the idea of creating an individual look through separate pieces.  It's sort of a 'build-your-own-dress' concept, and it allows the bride to create a completely unique look.

Rebecca Schoneveld's separates collection allows a bride the creative control to mix and match skirt shapes, necklines and lace or beaded details. The Sterling-Evalyn-Sage combination is my current obsession. (I still haven't stopped drooling over this hand-beaded bodice!)

The crop top. Need I say more? This look is a must-have for the modern, edgy a&bé bride. I can't get enough of this crop top and skirt combo by Sarah Seven.

Wtoo has also perfectly blended the modern separates-pairing concept with a traditional bridal feel.  This beaded corset goes perfectly with either a soft tulle skirt, or a dramatic horse-hair trimmed ballgown, don't you think?

#2: Convertible Looks

Brides love the idea of having a different look for their ceremony and reception, but definitely do not love the idea of buying two wedding dresses (who would?).  Why not have the best of both worlds by wearing a convertible ensemble that allows you to keep your guests on their toes with an unexpected, jaw-dropping, wedding day look.

Leanne Marshall's gowns are perfection, but adding a lace or beaded bolero to a separates combo, or to a classic dress takes it to a whole other level.  I personally loved Stella dress with the Valerie lace bolero. I love the idea adding a lace element for the ceremony, then rocking the basic top with a beaded sash when you are ready to dance the night away.

Lula Kate's mini dresses are to die for.  Not ready to take the plunge and wear a shortie on your wedding day?  A thai silk ballgown over-skirt allows you to have the traditional feel you've always dreamed combined with a show-stopping mini skirt for when things heat up on the dance floor.

lula kate

lula kate

You MUST check out this convertible combo by Sarah Seven...a romper and skirt. I. Can't. Even.

#3: Unconventional fabrics

I am a huge fan of subtle, unexpected details in a bridal look. You don't always have to go with the 'trend of the moment' to put your own fashionable stamp on your wedding day look. If you love the idea of being fashion-forward AND timeless on your wedding day, choosing a dress with unique fabrics and laces is way to go.

If you're tired of seeing the same lace over and over at all of your friend's weddings, mix it up with this Blush by Hayley Paige number with a geometric lace detail. Isn't she a beauty?

You are not going to believe this. As far as 'wow factor' goes, this skirt wins, hands down.  Houghton has created the most epic of bridal skirts. Ever. This feminine tulle skirt has a soft, silver plaid pattern that adds just a touch of style and sophistication.

Then turn your flash on your camera and, get ready for it folks. Magic.

See you soon!

Fall 2014 Stylebook

breanna doll

We're over the moon about how our most recent stylebook turned out! We continue to find inspiration in these images and hope that you do too. We asked stylist Emily Smoot of eat.sleep.style what influenced her looks for this photoshoot, here's what she said:

"Inspiration for this season's stylebook was pulled from the beautiful setting in Lyons, CO.  Natural florals and bohemian styling perfectly complimented the landscape around us.  Our collection was another huge inspiration, showing how a soft and romantic wedding gown can really set the tone for your big day.  We wanted to evoke the feeling of being carefree in love!"

places we love: Huckleberry Roasters // Denver,CO

Denver's coffee scene has been blossoming over the last few years and we love the amount of locally owned coffee shops that are around us. One of our favorites has to be Huckleberry Roasters, who have two locations in Denver. Their larger location is on 43rd & Pecos in Sunnyside, which isn't too far from the a&bé bridal shop Denver location. Check out some of our favorite things from around the coffee shop.

YES! Minnesota Recap

breanna doll

On August 21st we hosted a grand ole fete for the brides-to-be and the wedding industry in the Twin Cities. As the new girl in town, we were experiencing some serious social anxiety before the event: will anyone show up? will the party be fun? will it be a total downpour? will people like us?

Minnesota, all we can say is THANK YOU! Thank you so much for welcoming us with the best opening party we could have asked for. We were so thrilled to meet such an amazing, spirited, creative community. Our vendor partners totally wowed us and the guests with their gorgeous decor, awesome beats, and delicious food and drinks. The ever fabulous Wing Ta captured the evening so make sure to check out the gallery for all of the images from the night.

We are so happy to have said YES! Minnesota. We look forward to many more fun get-togethers with everyone and the opportunity to help brides in the Twin Cities find their wedding dress.

Styled Shoot: Lula Kate

Lacey Knaff

lula kate styled shoot / a&bé bridal shop

Downtown loft weddings are all the rage right now. So, needless to say, we were super excited when we got the opportunity to do a styled shoot with our Lula Kate dresses at Denver's coolest new warehouse venue, Blanc. We had so much fun finding places to shoot and be inspired by. The worn-down industrial surroundings of downtown Denver provided the perfect contrast to the feminine, chic style and gorgeous silhouettes of our Lula Kate dresses. Styled by Emily Smoot from EatSleepStyle and photographed by the amazing and talented, Rebecca Caridad, we think this industrial inspired shoot is pretty close to perfection. We also incorporated bright pops of oranges and pinks with flowers from one of our favorite denver florists, Plum Sage Flowers, which we think were the perfect complement and burst of color we needed. Let's just say, we hope this warehouse wedding trend is here to stay!

It was pretty hard to choose, but these are just a few of our favorites from the shoot. See more here

Lula Kate is known for making wedding dresses with flattering silhouettes that define chic, southern elegance at a great price. Book your appointment to come in to a&bé and try on our lula kate dresses yourself!

Lula Kate even has some super fun, feminine and flirty short dresses too! Perfect for a reception or even a wedding!

Located in the RiNO district of Denver {just north of Coors Field}, Blanc is the new venue on the block and with its expansive white washed walls, exposed bricks, high ceilings, lot's of natural lighting, and industrial flair it's no wonder they're making a name for themselves as the coolest new downtown venue. Not only is the building surrounded by old, worn down industrial buildings but they even have a gorgeous outdoor space that gives you a feeling of being transported to an orchard. Needless to say we were never short on inspiration for this shoot, and we felt pretty lucky they us use their space for the day.

We had an amazing time in Laramie last month! Our bridal pop-up shop was set up in Poppy's right in downtown Laramie, and we had a blast! We loved meeting all our brides, and wiring with fabulous vendors from the area. Sweets Cakes & Pastry made delicious treats for everyone to enjoy, and Honeybee Photography captured the entire event beautifully. The event went off without a hitch thanks to Embellish Wedding & Event Design, we could not be more thankful for you all! Enjoy the photos from the event below.

Meet the designer behind Hushed Commotion

breanna doll

We are very excited to introduce the latest addition to our accessory line, straight out of Brooklyn - Hushed Commotion! We are loving her delicate, gold, statement pieces to add a touch of warmth and bohemian elegance to your wedding day look. Hushed Commotion's collection includes hairpieces, belts, veils and the most adorable dog collars we've ever seen. Added bonus: We love that the designer of Hushed Commotion, Thea, is BFF's and studio mates with Rebecca Schoneveld, one of our favorite bridal gown designers. And it just so happens that their designs pair very well together!

A little Q & A with Thea Bloch-Neal, the designer behind bridal accessory line - Hushed Commotion:

Q. What is your design inspiration?

As you can probably tell, I am hugely inspired by the 1920’s and 30’! Anything flapper, deco, or art nouveau really speaks to me. Those ladies really knew how to dress up! Bring in NY is really integral to my design process. I work out of Brooklyn and I source my materials in the garment district area of NYC, I am so lucky that I can find what I need readily, because I am so inspired by the materials I’m exposed to. Finding the right colors is much easier when you’re able to see them in person. I also find a lot of inspiration from my brides, I work with so many creative women! So often I am working on a custom order that then inspires a piece for the next seasons collection...

Q. Tell me two little known facts about you:

- The first accessories I ever saved up for, lusted over and bought was an aqua Baby-G watch. I loved that thing!

- I took gymnastics lessons for a long time when I was younger and was on track to go the olympic path, but decided it wasn't my passion and left to pursue other dreams....and I have no regrets!

Q. Describe your personal style:
I love to dress in mixed prints, B&W motifs and bright pops of color. Naturally, I am obsessed with accessories, so I often keep my clothing monochromatic so I can wear big and fun baubles!

Q. What is your favorite article of clothing?
My white blazer. It's made of a crepe material, so it doesn't feel cheesy and it works with every outfit. Perfect to add that bit of polish that is oh-so-important for me as a female entrepreneur!

Q. Favorite vacation spot: Lopez Island in Washington State.

Q. When did you know that you were going to design bridal?
I was always that girl who would rather be a bit overdressed, than underdressed. As I delved more and more into evening wear in college, I was naturally drawn to Bridal. I love the detail work, and the care taken in bridal pieces. Both the designer and the bride allow themselves to be as fanciful as they want. I enjoy that process of not putting boundaries on the designs.

Q. Who is your style icon?
I LOVE Iris Apfel, now that is a woman who knows how to wear accessories! And, I love that she still rocks them all still at 80+ years old. I also love Diane Kruger's style, she can rock a gown like no other, but then also makes a flouncy skirt and a striped T look flawless.

Q. If you could dress any celebrity, who would it be?
I think Diane Kruger, I would love to make a fabulous headpiece for her to wear on the red carpet!

Vintage Travel Inspired Style Shoot

annaq walsh

As winter fades away (not exactly, eh? - who would have thought Denver would have received a snowstorm in May), here's a little eye candy to get all of you brides thinking about jetting off somewhere romantic.  The shoot has a bit of vintage, a bit of bohemian, and a hints of Central America.

A huge thank you to Laura Lee Anderson. As you can see, she's a seriously talented photographer and she's sweet as pie.

Things We Love: Our Mural

Kelly Gallagher

We can't help but to be proud of our space, we worked really hard on it! Of course, it wouldn't have turned out so well if it wasn't for all of our amazing friends & family that helped us turn our vision into reality. There are so many things we love about our shop, but one of our favorites is the mural that covers our back wall. If you haven't seen it in person, just drive down Tejon st in the Lower Highlands area of Denver and you can't miss it! Our friends over at Artistry Events & Design took our inspiration and turned a plain black wall into something to beautiful and fun!
