Real Wedding: Erin & Mike

Candice Countryman

If we had to make a list of the most fun wedding venues, Jim Henson Studios in Hollywood, California would definitely be towards the top! Erin & Mike's wedding did not let us down. Seriously, they took a picture with a dinosaur! Also, they had an amazing outdoor reception with food trucks! Can it get any cooler! Our a&bé bride looked totally gorgeous and fancy free in her Field of Flowers gown by Sarah Seven, complemented by a Ryder hair comb by Untamed Petals and a colorful bouquet by The Poppy League. See the fantastic photos by Micah and Megan Photography below:

Our bride shared some thoughts behind her special day as well as some great advice:

We met and fell in love in Hollywood so we were looking for a very special setting for our wedding. The Jim Henson Studios was originally Charlie Chaplin's movie studio and is a rustic gem in the heart of Hollywood. We loved the fun quirky touches (the Muppets, a dinosaur!) as well as the natural beauty. We were thrilled that we were able to create a wedding that reflected us. We go to a lot of stuffy events for work so we wanted to throw a party that was casual and fun with the right amount of elegance. Instead of a sit down dinner, we had food trucks- gourmet grilled cheese, tacos, and custom ice cream sandwiches- which our guests loved.

Our favorite part: We wrote our own wedding ceremony so we wanted one part that would be a surprise for us. We asked friends who are husband and wife to chose a reading to close out the ceremony. They know that we love TV and movies and so they created an original piece weaving together quotes about love from our favorite shows and movies. You can see from the pictures that we laughed and cried through the whole piece. It was so personal and uniquely us. I would tell any bride to make sure even if you are doing a more traditional wedding to make sure there is at least one moment that is really genuinely about who you and your husband are.

Finally, one of the best pieces of advice I got from a bridesmaid was to make sure I selected a dress that I could sit down in and not worry about it wrinkling, not being able to breath, etc. My Sarah Seven dress fit the bill perfectly- it was light and easy to move it but also beautiful and structured and elegant. Thanks again to the amazing woman at A & Be for helping me find it!
