GET TO KNOW DESIGNER, YOAV RISH:
a little q&a with the designer:
Q. What is your design inspiration?
I’m inspired by a lot of things. I can walk in the street and my eyes would catch a certain pattern or a shape and I would know exactly what my next design is.
Q. Tell me two little known facts about you:
I adore Bohemian chic. I don’t wear it but I love making it. I also dress my 2 girls in boho gowns. The second thing is that I love interior design and cooking. If I wouldn’t be a fashion designer I would probably be Martha Stewart.
Q. Describe your personal style:
My personal style is pretty classy. I love buying in old vintage stores and add to it my touch. I rarely buy in big chains. I like it that my clothes have stories behind it.
Q. What is your favorite article of clothing?
An old Burberry coat. I bought in Williamsburg several years ago.
Q. Favorite vacation spot:
I don’t have one. I love travelling with my husband and my 2 girls. We just pick a place, rent a van and drive. A true family adventure .
Q. When did you know that you were going to design bridal?
I never imagined. It all started when I made a wedding dress for my sister. After her wedding I just started getting phone calls from all of her friends who wanted me to design for them as well.
Q. Who is your style icon?
Marilyn Monroe. Gets me every time.
Q. If you could dress any celebrity, who would it be?
Marilyn Monroe. I feel I can give her look another twist of style.
Q. What is the last great book that you read?
A book about Christian Dior and his inspirations. Fascinating.
Q. Any advice for brides?
Be yourself and stay true to yourself, no matter what your mother and friends say.
