A Little Q&A with Sally Eagle

Q. What is your design inspiration?
It comes from so many place that it is hard to narrow down. Anything that speaks romance, the unique shape of a flower, a gorgeous silk that I just have to use somehow or a vintage piece of lace. My ambition is to create beautiful dresses that are soft, feminine and timeless.

Q. Tell me two little known facts about you:
First, I am not only a designer but also the mother of two lovely little boys.
Second, I adore flowers but am a terrible gardner. My husband finds it funny that I love the idea of having a beautiful garden at home but never seem to be able to keep my plants alive.

Q. Describe your personal style:
I like to keep it simple so I love a good pair of jeans, but I am also quite a girly girl so I like to pretty it up with a soft blouse or a lacy top. I also have a thing for shoes which means I have way too many pairs of heels.

Q. What is your favorite article of clothing?
A dress that I made a few years ago; I saw the silk fabric in the window of a store and just loved the unusual but beautiful combination of forest green, blush pink and gold in a floral pattern.

Q. Favorite vacation spot:
Castle Point, which is only a couple of hours drive from our home in New Zealand but it is the perfect place to escape. There is a beautiful beach and really nothing else, which means all you can do is relax with a book and enjoy the sunshine.

Q. When did you know that you were going to design bridal?
After finishing my design degree in fashion I got married and decided to make my own wedding dress. It was so much fun designing and creating such an important dress that I started doing friends’ wedding dresses, then friends of friends, until I had enough experience to create my own line.

Q. Who is your style icon?
Coco Chanel; it took a lot of passion and courage to achieve all that she did.

Q. If you could dress any celebrity, who would it be?
Emma Stone, she is beautiful and full of personality.

Q. What is the last great book that you read?
The Guernsey Literary and Potato Pie Society. A beautiful story about a book club that brought people together during World War 2.

Q. Any advice for brides?
Trust your own style. There are so many ideas out there that it is hard not to be swayed by what someone else is doing or thinking. I feel the best weddings are those where the style is a true reflection of who the couple are.
