A little Q&A with the designer:
Q. What is your design inspiration?
I take a lot of my design inspiration from the brides I meet. It is important for me to feel like I am making something that connects to a woman's vision of herself. I also take massive inspiration from the materials I use. I handpick all of my gemstones to try to find things that are beautiful and unusual.
Q. Tell me two little known facts about you:
1) I love playing bar games, darts in particular. I've even coerced some of my girlfriends to start playing with me. We're actually getting pretty good!
2) I think everything tastes better with an egg on it.
Q. Describe your personal style:
Pretty much everything I wear starts with denim. A pair of jeans is the basis for my every day uniform, which is pretty tomboy-ish. I probably wear jeans and button-down shirt three or four days a week. That said, I do like to mix it up and have a little fun with fashion from time to time!
Q. What is your favorite article of clothing?
An amazing pair of white leather oxfords with chrome cap toes. They are so comfortable and stylish and make me feel like the coolest version of myself.
Q. Favorite vacation spot:
I love to explore and am always looking forward to the next destination. It's looking like Vietnam might be the next stop!
Q. When did you know that you were going to design bridal?
While it's not the most original story, I decided to design a bridal jewelry line while planning my own wedding. I had made custom pieces for a few clients prior to that, but it wasn't until I started shopping for myself that I realized what a lack there was of handmade jewelry that felt special, authentic and unique.
Q. Who is your style icon?
Oh, I have about a million and I draw inspiration from different icons to suit my different moods. Sofia Coppola when I'm feeling feminine, Mick Jagger when I'm feeling rebellious (although that probably doesn't show through in my bridal line), Lauren Hutton, Jenna Lyons, Solange, Iris Apfel. I love people who dress with a strong sense of self.
Q. If you could dress any celebrity, who would it be?
Right now I would probably choose Emma Stone. She's young and fresh and isn't afraid of taking some risks with her style. She has also made some amazing red carpet choices in the past year always accessorized with amazing jewels.
Q. What is the last great book that you read?
Q. Any advice for brides?
Make decisions that feel true to yourself and you can't go wrong! Also, make sure to enjoy your big day with your partner- it goes by so fast!!
