hot tips for natural nuptials
before we spill the tea on how you can reduce the environmental impact of your wedding, remember to cut yourself some slack, babe! no wedding will ever be 100% eco-perfect, but we’re all just trying our best here, right? pick out what you can manage because every bit helps!
ring — dig up those family heirlooms or shop around for ethically-sourced metals & gemstones. don’t knock lab-created either! they’re just as sparkly.
location — choose a spot that everyone can travel easily to. hey, you could even elope if you just can’t wait any longer! less travel = less emissions.
catering — a vegan menu is ideal, but even a 50% vegan menu has less environmental impact— and provides options for your herbivore pals!
stationery —use e-vites and a website to communicate to your guests, or use seed paper (paper that can be planted!) and send one heck of an invitation!
decor — get your pinterest board ready and diy up a storm! scour your local thrift stores for vintage goodies and incorporate some natural elements.
flowers —paper flowers have had quite the comeback since art class but, if you’re set on the real deal, look for potted plants or farm-to-table flowers.
tableware — you can go the earthy, bamboo, biodegradable route or you can rent fine china if that’s more your style. you can also rent decor!
favors — opt for something edible and package it in recyclable paper or glass. you can also let guests choose a charity and donate on their behalf!
gifts — in lieu of the usual pile of gifts (some you’d return tbh), consider asking guests for donations to your favorite charity or a honeymoon fund!
dress — give your gown a second life by donating it or selling it to another blushing bride. you could even donate your dress to a local theatre group!
we hope those tips gave you ideas for the sustainable wedding of your dreams! our designer spotlight on truvelle and lia terni showcased some of our favorite eco-friendly offerings. and, as the cherry on top, don’t forget that a portion of all our sales is donated to women-focused non-profits through our babes on a mission program. so there are more than a few ways to help both people and the planet!
