Real Wedding: Katie + Shaemus

From the moment we met Katie and Shaemus, we were immediately impressed. This Denver power couple is not only strikingly beautiful, but stylish, cool, and crazy in love to boot! We instantly fell for their colorful personalities, balanced by a certain soft, sentimental side, and were inspired to design a wedding that reflected this modern couple.

We knew we wanted a place as hip as the bride and groom, so we opted for a non-traditional wedding venue—City Hall, a Downtown Denver night club, which features a retractable roof, graffiti wall, and built in stage (which is perfect for a band and a great dance party).

Katie expressed a love for all things vintage, so special details were woven throughout—family wedding photos, cake toppers, and even her personal bridal styling was all vintage. Right down to the generous wedding gift she gifted her groom: a (surprise!) vintage rolex.

To incorporate her soft feminine tastes with such an edgy urban venue, we were romanced by the concept of juxtaposing a delicate and pretty secret garden against the elements of the city. A palette of ivory, champagne, and blush pink accented with vibrant, cooling garden greens contrasted against the exposed brick, concrete, and iron beams adding interest in and intrigue.

We utilized the entire space, transforming the indoor bar area for a romantic candlelit ceremony officiated by the couple’s uncles. After personalized vows, guests celebrated the kiss with confetti poppers as a guitar duo serenaded “Wouldn’t it be Nice” by The Beach Boys for a joyous recessional. Immediately following, guests transitioned to enjoy cocktails and locally inspired hors d’oeuvres on the mezzanine, before dining al fresco beneath the retractable rooftop, and dancing the night away under the stars.

This was the perfect wedding! Everything came off seamlessly, and the entire evening had a vibe that was unique to the couple—cool, fresh, edgy and romantic all at the same time. Thanks to a wonderful vendor team, our vision was realized, and Katie and Shaemus experienced a enchanted beginning to happily ever after!
