Real Wedding: Emily + Brian

From the photographer:

Brian and Emily were together for a little over a year before being engaged. Sounds crazy, but even that felt like it was too long for them! They both knew after about six months of dating that they were each other's soul mates. The moment that Emily looked forward to the most on her wedding day was the first look. She said that Brian had been very involved in wedding planning and designs and the only thing he hadn’t seen was the dress!

When Brian and Emily began to date, they realized they had so much in common - the greatest being their love to travel! They both agree that everything was and is so natural and easy for them. Their personalities compliment each other in the best way. They are each other's biggest supporter. Brian is so easy to get along with - incredibly kind! Emily keeps them laughing, keeps them level headed and makes sure they’re enjoying every step of life.

Emily had a Nicole Miller gown. She knew she had to have something simple and elegant. She has never been the type to wear sparkles, lace or strapless. She wanted something different and unique!

Brian proposed to Emily on March 15th, 2015. It was an 80 degree day in March! He secretly planned massages for Emily, her mom and her sister. While they were getting massages, Brian and Emily's dad were setting up the proposal site. Brian surprised Emily and met her near the massage place and took her to a spot by the Platte river. While Emily's dad hid in the bushes and took photos, Brian got on one knee. The best part was that he had planned a surprise engagement party right after the proposal at Forrest Room 5. Twenty-five of their closest friends were waiting there to congratulate them! Brian is much more of an introvert and would have preferred to propose privately, but he knew Emily wanted her family there. He also asked for both of her parents blessing months before with the ring. He definitely thought this through and it was so perfect.

Neither of them had strong opinions about their wedding. They both just knew they wanted to be married! Brian knew he wanted to golf the week before with his dad and father in law. Emily knew she wanted something near the city. Brian being from New York and Emily being from Oregon - it was obvious that Colorado was the perfect spot to be married. Colorado is where their lives are and they couldn't imagine kicking off married life anywhere else. They are in love with the RiNo district where the gallery was that their ceremony was at. The industrial, raw feel! They chose April because they aren't much for traditions and rules on how you should do weddings. They both liked the idea of a Spring wedding - neither of them wanted a long engagement.  The wedding palette is Gold & White. Since the wedding is in a gallery, they only wanted minimal, modern decor. Everything they’ve done has had a modern feel. They did take on a geometric theme to go along with the modern style. Only the bouquets were done by a florist. All of the tables had succulent arrangements grown by Emily. She started growing them the month after they were engaged. They only lost a few succulents along the way due to their new puppy, Pepper. Emily's dad built the wooden triangle backdrop that they were married in front of. It turned out even more amazing than they had imagined! Emily's Dad and Brian also created the custom triangle boutonnieres. Brian designed the invitations all on his own.

Emily suggests to future brides to find an officiant that knows you and your relationship. Their officiant was a close friend of her parents and did an amazing job keeping the ceremony focused around them. They were blown away by his creativity and are so happy they didn't choose some random person.  Food trucks were an obvious choice for Brian and Emily. Since their venue was’t necessarily set up for events, they knew that food trucks would be perfect! Plus, food you actually want to eat!
