a love story so precious, we couldn’t possibly put it all in our own words. you could say it was love at first sight for #aandbabe erica. the second she saw andrew, she felt a funny feeling that this was only the start of a lifetime of adventure. erica explains, "we were both competitive gymnasts in houston, tx circa early 2000s. my coach had us doing strength training at the beginning of our workout before sending us off to rotations, and a boy i had never seen before had walked through the door and caught my eye. i remember excitedly punching my friend dana telling her that I called dibs on him". from calling dibs to later finding out his name and forming an unbreakable bond, erica and andrew attended separate colleges after graduating high school, but never lost sight of the love they had for one another. upon andrew’s college graduation, the couple moved in together and quickly settled into the rhythm of their new life as erica finished out her last year at the university of kansas.
one week before erica’s college graduation, she got a call that turned their world upside down. "my dad had been in a motorcycle crash and hadn't survived. we had just seen him a week earlier, and before he left he told us, "i don't have to worry about you two anymore. i know you'll both be great". andy packed our bags and got us home to be with my family, he held me together when i wanted to fall into pieces each morning."
as erica and andrew healed together, they also came to the conclusion that life was far too fleeting to wait any longer to be married. come 2020 during a trip to dallas, texas to visit family, andrew popped the question and these two were ready to make their way down the aisle. their long awaited wedding day looked a little something like this…
with colored flowers in her hair and a delicate tulle veil turned bridal cape trailing softly behind, erica was a vision in 'sydney' by alyssa kristin and sara gabriel's 'rachel veil'. their intimate outdoor wedding ceremony was romantic and rustic. with a dreamy wooden ceremony canopy adorned in pink and red florals and fluffy white clouds in the sky, the day was full of charm. steps away from the mountain lodge wedding venue, erica and andrew exchanged vows in a clearing close to the forest and made their way indoors to continue the wedding celebration.
from giant marquee letters with erica and adrew's initials to comfy bridal birkenstocks, their casual cabin reception was just as intimate and full of fun moments as the entire day had been. by the end of the night glow sticks made a happy appearance and guests headed outside for erica and andrew’s grand sparkler wedding exit.
new to married life, but no stranger to the "happiness, sadness, adventure, and grief" that life brings, we know that as husband and wife andrew and erica will both be great... just as her dad said they would.
