while la jolla has a range of unique churches, claire and christian got married at the church they always attend together. claire adds, “we got married on august 4th at our church in la jolla”. their church, mary, star of the sea, is most recognizable for the mural painted on the outside of the building. several of claire and christian’s wedding photos feature this famous painting as well as iron accents that adorn the church's roof and fence. the exterior's intricate details, natural landscaping, and rustic tilework, create a peaceful ambiance, ideal for a memorable wedding ceremony.
modern alyssa kristin wedding dress
when shopping for a wedding dress, claire visited a&bé bridal shop in seattle, washington. while claire wanted a classic wedding dress that still felt modern, she also wanted to be comfortable on their wedding day. alyssa kristin’s ‘camila’ gown checked all the boxes.

the length of midi bridesmaids dresses tend to offer the perfect balance between elegance and comfort. hitting right between the knee and ankle, claire’s bridesmaids midi silk dresses were fitting for the church ceremony as well as outdoors. opting for a neutral shade, these light brown midi bridesmaids dresses definitely complemented the landscaping of the church courtyard where they took wedding party photos!
outdoor wedding reception at la jolla woman’s club
following the ceremony, everyone “headed over to the la jolla woman's club after to continue the party! it was full of great pizza, family, friends, and (our favorite part) dueling pianos”. complete with private gardens and close to the beach, la jolla woman’s club was a dreamy setting for claire and christian’s al fresco wedding dinner.
arranging rectangular tables draped in white tablecloth throughout the garden property, guests found their seats thanks to light pink table number signage and a darker pink place card at each setting. the wedding tables were also decorated with modern glassware and wildflowers organically displayed in vases and jars.
fresh pizza oven wedding dinner
as the sun began to set, the smell of fresh pizza and the looming salt breeze filled the air. contributing to the fun vibe of their outdoor reception, criscito pizza’s mobile wood-fired pizza oven was a hit among guests! allowing everyone to enjoy a unique experience and artisanal pizza creations, the pizza reception dinner was one of their favorite parts of the evening.
indoor wedding reception and dancing
after eating pizza and admiring the views, claire, christian, and their guests headed indoors for the remainder of their wedding evening. toasts were made and loved ones gathered around as claire and christian cut into their wedding cake.
filling the dance floor, a circle was formed around the bride and groom. they raised their drinks in celebration. in awe of the unforgettable experience, they knew they’d never forget the love and care they felt during their coastal wedding day in la jolla, california.
