Our Current Loves From Modern Trousseau:
A little Q&A with the designer Callie Tein for Modern Trousseau:
Q. What is your design inspiration?
A: This season I’m inspired by the classical 1800s, romantic period. I love the drama of the gowns from that era, as well as the intricate, period details.
Q. Tell me two little known facts about you.
A: I like to unwind with a brush, canvas, and paints, creating mostly portraits. I also make great desserts.
Q. Describe your personal style.
A: I’m drawn to mostly black and white clothing with clean lines or surprise details, accessorized with one amazing, statement piece.
Q. What is your favorite article of clothing?
A: A classic, black, cashmere sweater.
Q. Favorite vacation spot
A. Australia, my childhood home.
Q. When did you know that you were going to design bridal?
A. When I was about 5-years-old, my great grandmother, Lila, gave me a doll dressed in a lace bridal gown with matching shoes, veil, and flowers. Of course, I fell in love instantly. I think that was the first sign...
Q. Who is your style icon?
A: Grace Kelly
Q. Last great book you read
A: “One Hundred Years of Solitude” by Gabriel Garcia Marquez
Q. Any advice for brides?
A: Find a dress you love, but choose a style that most flatters your height and body type.
Q. What makes your line truly special?
A: Modern Trousseau gowns are customized to suit each bride. We also include a blue, embroidered ‘signature’ in each gown, with a message that holds special meaning for the bride.
