in 2015 delaney and emmett met at a theater camp. “delaney was immediately impressed by emmett’s quick wit and math skills, while emmett was intrigued by the southern girl’s color-coded notes and tendency to go bed at 8pm.”
in 2019 the two reconnected over snapchat. after doing long distance for a few years, delaney and emmett decided to move to raleigh, north carolina together. december 2021 was the month that emmett popped the question in the rain and the two began planning their epic wedding day!
party-inspired wedding theme
when deciding on a wedding theme, delaney and emmett opted for “come for the love. stay for the party”. by combining classic details like florals and signage with non-traditional elements like disco balls and a trolley pub, delaney and emmett drew inspiration from their interests and fun-loving spirits.
vibrant retro-inspired wedding color palette
when speaking to their choice of wedding colors, delaney describes their personal style. “we wanted all our guests to feel the real authentic us + have a great time doing it. that meant bright colors (my husband's hair is blue, so did you think we were going to be traditional?)”
kicking off the colorful celebrations, delaney and emmett’s wedding invitations were bold and bright. with a color palette of mustard, teal, burnt orange, and light pink, this mod wedding invitation suite was beautifully designed. beyond the eclectic colors, these two also experimented with mixing patterns and textures such as polka dots and geometric shapes.
guests would once again see these vibrant and non-traditional wedding colors and prints appear in elements like their arched wedding backdrop, the seating chart display, wedding flowers, bridesmaids dresses, and so much more!
fun polka dot wedding dress
finding a wedding dress that feels fun and playful is no small feat. delaney’s dress search led her to find her modern polka dot wedding dress at a&bé raleigh. laudae’s ‘florence’ gown is an effortless combination of classic bridal style with contemporary charm. this crepe square neckline wedding dress is accented with sheer elbow length puff sleeves. the dotted tulle sleeves and dotted tulle center slit add texture and dimension to this simplistic silhouette.
delaney paired her chic laudae dress with a veil by sara gabriel. selecting ‘lesley veil’, this unique cotton fringe veil complemented the dotted applique of her fun wedding dress!
dessert food truck in durham
ending the night on a sweet note, delaney and emmett ditched the dance floor for a few moments to fill up on chocolate covered cheesecake from the cocoa forte food truck parked outside their wedding venue. one of our favorite reception photos is of these two posing with their delicious cheesecake pops in front of their dessert food truck in durham!
