DEAR BRIDE, FIVE THINGS I WISH YOU KNEW ABOUT WEDDING DRESS SHOPPING EXPERIENCE!

1. the more people you invite to shop with you, the more opinions you get.

for some brides, bringing their whole posse is half the fun and excitement of trying on dresses. while we are fully on board, we have noticed that more times than not, a large group can become overwhelming for a bride trying to make a decision. when deciding who to invite to come wedding dress shopping with you, consider who will be most supportive, and whose opinions matter the most to you. everyone else can be surprised when they see you on the big day or come to your accessory appointment with you to join in on the fun!

2. most brides find their dress in the first 10!

most people think we’re crazy when we tell them this at the beginning of their appointment...until they find their gown in those first ten! it happens a lot sooner than you anticipate so make sure to bring those people you can’t imagine this day without and get ready for a day of celebration!

3. it almost always goes in the complete opposite direction of what you thought.

coming into your appointment with an open mind is one of the best things you can do for yourself! let’s be honest, the dress is one of the most important and exciting parts about getting engaged. so understandably, most brides dive deep into pinterest and instagram for inspo the moment they get engaged (or before if you’re like me!). getting an idea of styles you like is a great starting point but don’t get so attached to an idea before you’ve seen a little bit of everything on yourself. dresses look different on each person and most brides are surprised when they choose a dress that is nothing like they ever imagined!

4. it’s all about how you feel in the dress

there is so much pressure to find the “perfect dress” or to look the “most beautiful” on your wedding day. forget the perfect dress idea and hey, we think you’re already beautiful! instead, focus on how you feel in each dress. we like to say the three most important things in a dress are that you feel comfortable, confident, and like yourself. if you can check those three boxes and imagine yourself in that dress on your wedding day, then it’s likely the one!

5. over-shopping is a real thing

dress shopping can become overwhelming very quickly. they’re all beautiful gowns, they’re similar shades, and at a certain point they will all start to blur together. too many times we’ve seen brides who have tried on so many gowns that they feel lost and no longer know what they are looking for. it can be super discouraging and take the fun out of actually finding your dress.

once you find a dress that you love and want to get married in, trust your gut and don’t be afraid to commit!
